Course Overview:
This course enables you to understand the process of debt review from start to finish. Debt review has a major impact on a credit provider, and it is important that you understand exactly how the 60-day process should work, and how to communicate with debt counsellors and participate in good faith in the process.
What you will learn:
At the end of this course, the learner should be able to:
- Understand the aims of the NCA;
- Given an overview of the debt review process;
- Identify the Task Team Guidelines and their purpose;
- Understand reckless lending;
- Explain the credit provider’s role in combatting over-indebtedness in SA;
- Understand the role of the debt counsellor in the consultation with the consumer;
- Communicate effectively with debt counsellors in the debt review process;
- Check and understand an over- indebtedness assessment;
- Understand how debt counsellors make a determination of reckless credit;
- Deal with terminations, withdrawals and transfers in debt review;
- Draft consent orders for the NCT; and
- Monitor a consumer’s repayments and manage their account accordingly.
